[:en]NTI submitted four documents in response to the GN Department of Education’s policy intentions document: “A Collective Vision”:
- NTI Comments on Chapter 1 – “Fundamental Principles”
(Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit) - NTI Comments on Chapter 2 – Language of Instruction
- NTI Comments on Chapter 3 – Inclusive Education
- NTI Comments on Local Control and DEA Responsibilities
The most important information NTI used came from two GN department of education documents, which until recently neither of which were online or readily available to the public:
- Dept of Ed PPT slide deck on LOI presented to NTI July 2016; the numbers in it are not clearly disaggregated or rolled up, they have to be calculated.
- Dept of Ed 2013-14 Annual Report
NTI also used a chart from 2008 for comparisons; split into two charts for display purposes:

This data was provided by a govt source who did not wish to be identified. This form of reporting is apparently prepared regularly/internal to the GN but not posted publicly. Media and NTI have to rely on what the Department of Education chooses to report on publicly (and how it presents the data); and our work can be hampered by what data GN gathers but does not report publicly, or does not gather (see Aud.Gen. 2013 for a critique of this).
